Great Middle Eastern cuisine

If you're after authentic flavours of the Middle East you can't go past this restaurant - it's the best I've tried. It's friendly too, with staff that know what they're doing and are happy to help nvigate the menu if you're not sure what you're after. My advice is: try the lamb! any of it! Sure to be special.
Another good thing about this restaurant is the banquet feeling that you get, it's a good place to bring a group where you can share a large table and feast on the many dihes that can be brought out to share.
Love it!
Best yet!

The flavours linger on. I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant.
I like the atmosphere. Has a strong sense of family, from the people running it, to the customers to the food.
Loved the egg plant salad, cabbage rolls and lamb cutlets. Best for me though was the chicken hotpot.
A really pleasant prelude to a night at the movies at nearby Elsternwick Cinema.
What do you call a bad Lebanese cook? Asif!

Asif!
I loved this place. The name describes it as Middle Eastern, but I think it to be more specifically Lebanese. Whatever the case, the food here is amazing. I figure the Middle East was for so long a hub for ancient travellers, explorers, traders, and smack bang between Africa, Asia and Europe - how can the food fail to be spectacular???
We ate at this place "tapas style", ordering a wide selection of dishes so that we could all get to try a little of everything. All I can remember is a gastronomic whirlwind of spiced yoghurt, olives, vine leaves, spiced lamb, rice, kebabs - ah, my mouth waters at the memory.
It's just off Glenhuntly Road in Elsternwick, away from the general hustle and bustle, so you can enjoy a meal at the hallowed window table and not be distracted by people walking by (nor do you feel like an animated advertisement). Decore was nice, soft lighting and gentle music added to the flavour of the evening, and the host does everything he can to make you feel at home.
