One of the best.

Overall: 4 stars

This restaurant seems like a small, out-of-the-way place next to other shops in the Centro strip. However, it's seemingly normal and ordinary location hides a wonderful and friendly place to eat with helpful and knowledgable staff.

When my favourite Japanese restaurant closed down (in Bayswater) I was desperate to find another place local that could match it for both price and value. Hitoshi Sushi was a 'gamble' with my first visit - but that is all it took. I am now a loyal customer who cannot recommend them enough.

They have a maki bar (sushi rolls) at the front of the restaurant where you can pop in for a quick take-away snack or sushi pack. For those who care to sit down for a little, either for lunch or dinner, you can sit down and enjoy the Japanese design of the interior seated area.

The menu is expansive and not limited in the way I have found other Japanese places are, purely catering for the common choices (bento box and california rolls). The prices are excellent and the quality of food is very high. I have not found Japanese food of this quality for this price anywhere.

Recommendations: the Tapoyaki (Octopus balls), Miso soup (bean paste), the Teppan Fried Rice (you havn't tasted fried rice until you've tasted this one!), the Japanese Rice Tea (which is a personal blend of the owner, she makes it herself) and the coffee. For a Japanese restaurant, they have excellent, and I do mean excellent, coffee. The perfect blend of price, convenience and quality food.
