Mountain Mama, take me home

The General (or "The Genny" as it's known) is one of the few places in the Mt Hotham ski village that stays open all year round. During the ski season it is packed every night with fit young sporty-types enjoying the breathtaking views out the large back windows while chowing down on huge serves of fantastic pizzas, perfectly-cooked steaks, enormous chicken parmis and other mod-pub style food. At night they have music and entertainment downstairs and a dance floor upstairs, both even more crowded. The atmosphere is decidedly alpine, with antique skis, snowboards and even an old snowmobile all mounted around the walls and ceiling.
Outside the season the pace settles down into something more family-friendly, with the main punters being locals, tradies and holiday-makers. The meals are still fresh, high-quality and great value for money so if you're in the area, summer or winter, I definitely advise dropping in.
