Jeckyl & Hyde - The food was great

Review by juju (1), left on 07-05-2007 at 14:30

Food: 4 stars   Wine: 2 stars   Coffee: 0 stars   Staff: 3 stars   Style: 1 stars   Value: 4 stars
Overall: 4 stars

We were reccommended to try the food but warned that the place is a little rough.

The airconditioning duct had peeling paint. The carpet looked 100 years old and the walls needed a bloody good cleaning (and painting). We had second thought about eating here but yet we ventured to a table.

The service was OK - what you expect from a pub. They did tell us that our meals would take 30 - 35 min due to the cooking process which was good as many places just take your order and then you begin wondering have they forgotten about you.

I had what our frieds reccommended which was the chicken stuffed with camambert wrapped in bacon, and it was beautiful and not overcooked, served on a chunky mash with a mustard sauce which was very nice and - as I don't like mustard - found myself scrapping the last morsels off my plate. My partner had the special which was writen as "Bone in Rib eye with bell pepper sauce served on mash with garlic beans and carrots". It was huge and the sauce was absolutely beautiful and I wish I had that with the chicken.

The dessert menu was uninticing and the coffee was self serve and free which was dissappointing.

Go for the food (and don't look around to much) and you won't be dissappointed.
