Reviews for Da Uday

Special spot tucked away in a side street.

Excellent place to take friends/family to with the wide range of cuisine available from Indian, Italian & Thai menu, each with it's own chef.

Pizza's have the best bases I've ever had, Indian meals have awesome rice and actually spice it as you ask for e.g. Mild is mild and hot is hot.

On both occasions I've dined at the front part of the Restaurant but according to friends it's a rather large venue if you make your way out the back.

Service has been great with friendly, professional staff, some of whom are from overseas working holidays and bring great stories from around the world if you take the time to enquire.

It’s a Lovely Da Uday

When it comes to favourite places to eat in Ballarat, it’s hard to beat the diversity and taste of the culinary delights served up at Da Uday’s.

This cosy little restaurant near Sovereign Hill specialises in traditional tandoori dishes and pizza, inviting its’ customers to cater to their moods by having a choice of Thai, Indian or Italian dishes.

Diners who order Thai or Indian meals are given a dish of some of the best rice I’ve ever tasted, along with a separate dish of meat, to serve and mix as they wish. These kinds of meals are best experienced with a serving of appetising roti bread.

Choosing a table near what used to be the fireplace, but now only prides a small water-feature, we ordered from the $12 lunch menu. This includes a free wine or soft drink. Trying my best to veer away from the firm favourite, the Indian Madrasi Lamb, I chose a Thai dish. It delivered the trademark Da Uday taste, even if it wasn't quite up there with the Madrasi!

Da Uday’s is a lovely winter hide away with its’ décor of warm tones of red and brown, in an initimate, classic setting. The sizeable eatery is inside an old-style building with ornate paintings, chandeliers and windows displaying views of a country-style garden.

The staff are friendly and conversational. Just mind your step on the way out - it can get muddy! However, Da Uday's is a winter safehaven to warm the chilliest Ballarat day.
